Shapeoko Signal Cable
This is the dedicated Shapeoko Signal Cable for the PLH3D-CNC Universal Adapter. It enables a simple, quick connection between the Shapeoko controller and the Adapter.
- Adapter side: 8-pin terminal block — connect to the PLH3D-CNC Universal Adapter.
- Controller side: two wires (red and blue) — connect to the controller’s laser control terminals as specified for your board.
Wiring may differ by controller revision; always follow your controller’s I/O labeling and our adapter manual. The overall concept remains the same.

Example CNC Machine Connection
This is a sample hookup based on the video. Your CNC may wire differently, but the idea is the same: mount the laser head, route the cables, connect the PLH3D-CNC Adapter PRO and power, then link its control lines to your CNC controller. The Adapter PRO converts common controller outputs to laser-compatible PWM/TTL or analog control and adds safety features such as arming and status indication.
Safety first: wear proper laser safety glasses and follow the head’s and adapter’s manuals during setup and testing.
Typical hookup steps
- Mount the laser head to your spindle/tool mount and secure it rigidly. If you use LaserDock PRO, attach the laser-side to the head and the CNC-side to the mount first.
- Route the cabling through cable guides/drag chains, leaving slack for full travel and strain relief.
- Connect the Adapter PRO to the laser head cable (5-pin or 6-pin, per head type) and to the power supply.
- Wire controller signals from your CNC to the Adapter PRO control inputs. Start with PWM (TTL) and GND; some machines use alternative inputs (e.g., analog 0–10 V or inverted PWM).
- Arm & test safely: power the Adapter, arm it, and verify PWM/Enable states on the display before running jobs; use low power for first tests.
Controller signals
Most setups use PWM/TTL (active HIGH) plus GND to control laser power. The Adapter also exposes analog inputs (0–5 V and 0–10 V) and enable inputs for interlocks. Always match your controller’s output type/voltage to the correct Adapter input. If your wiring differs from this example, follow your controller’s I/O documentation—the overall concept remains the same.
Note for 5-pin heads: if the status line is unused, set the Adapter’s status input to be ignored in advanced settings.

Features & Benefits of the PLH3D-6W-XF+ Cutting and Engraving Laser Head In Details
Cutting and Engraving - PLH3D-6W-XF+ blue laser allows to cut and engrave various materials such as wood, cardboard, rubber, paper, textiles, leather, plastic, balsa, plywood, and many others, as well as mark stainless steel, titanium and low heat conductance subtypes of steel.
Improved Safety - The cutting and engraving laser head is equipped with an “Armed” indication LED, signaling its connection to the power supply and providing alerts for overheating. Additionally, ambient temperature warnings ensure safe operation.
Factory Set Lens - each laser head is shipped with a High-Resolution Triplet lens adjusted to focus at 60.0 mm. This distance is the best-optimized focus distance to start with.
Easy Lens Adjustment: The working (focus) distance can be quickly set or changed with the included lens adjuster, compatible with all M9x0.5 lenses. For certain applications, adjusting the beam for symmetrical engraving is recommended.
Built-in Driver: A short connection between the laser diode and a driver ensures better protection for a diode, possibility of high-frequency current modulation as well as eliminates inductance effects during the switch-on.

Been wanting to adapt a laser to our cnc and when stumble upon this one we felt that it would be the perfect fit and boy were we ever right. Simple manual to follow a quick assembly onto our shapeoko and it was off firing within minutes of being installed. Impressed with its consistent performance and a burn that leaves a mark on beautiful wood projects. Magnetic laser dock is a huge factor in buying as well so easy to snap on and off converting from laser work and cnc work. Being a first time buyer of a laser this one grabbed my attention and boy did it not disappoint. Digital users Manuel made super easy to adapt the laser to my shapeoko cnc and the magnetic laser doc is so convenient to pull off and attach laser diode so it can be stored aside when using the cnc and nit the laser. As for the 6W laser itself…. The burn is real it’s clean and leaves a great impression when engraving solid woods like we have been. Continuous use over the day with some burns lasting 8-14 minutes each laser performed flawlessly. Also customer service from OPT lasers is second to none with quick administration responses and detailed tracking info when in transit. Highly recommended for the laser enthusiasts and novices.
