Product description
About the TEC-8A-24V-PID-HC-RS232 Programmable Temperature Controller
The TEC-8A-24V-PID-HC-RS232 controller enables temperature control in the range of -70°C to 70°C. The controller offers convenient parameter adjustment and monitoring capabilities via its UART port.
With versatile functionality, this controller supports both heating and cooling without the need for jumper configuration. An open collector output allows it to serve as a signal for other devices, while LED indicators provide visual feedback on heating or cooling activity.
Compact, user-friendly, and versatile, this controller is ideal for a variety of industrial applications. It is specifically designed for use with 12V Peltier modules, but is compatible with modules operating within a 5V to 24V supply voltage range.
Operating in PWM mode (Pulse Width Modulation), the controller can handle currents up to 8A. It utilizes a 10kΩ NTC B3950 temperature sensor, with a default temperature setpoint of 20°C.
The adjustable PID controller parameters allow customization to suit various systems. With proper calibration, the controller ensures precise temperature maintenance with an accuracy of up to ±0.05°C, even in systems with varying inertia.
Recommendations and Requirements
- The TEC-8A-24V-PID-HC uses a serial port (COM) for PC communication. Applications such as RealTerm (Windows), Minicom (Linux), or PuTTY can be used for data reading, writing, and parameter configuration.
- We recommend using power cables with a minimum cross-section of 0.5 mm².
- The current of the Peltier module depends on the supply voltage. Common modules typically operate at 12V–15V, with the maximum current indicated by the module's symbol. For instance, "12708" denotes a voltage range of 0-12V and a maximum current of 8A.
Protection
This temperature controller does not feature reverse polarity protection. Connecting the power supply with reverse polarity will cause permanent damage to the controller.
If the temperature exceeds 70°C or drops below -70°C, the driver will not power the Peltier module. Additionally, the open collector output will be grounded.

With its user-friendly interface, the temperature controller allows for easy adjustment and monitoring.
Good
I can fine-tune it to perfectly suit my system's needs.
Converted a TE Wine Cooler to an Incubator
Works great. I frequently send new set points over serial port. This operation occasionally failed. Tech support was prompt and helpful. Noise from my power supply was causing the problem. Now running TEC logic on separate power supply.
easy to use OEM TEC
I am using these for various temperature regulation tasks in prototype laser setups. These are perfectly well suited for this task.
