3D Lasers for 3D Printing Machines
A 3d laser may not only mean a laser for a 3D scanner. The 3D laser is also laser for a 3D printer. Here you can explore our full range of products: Main Product Lines manufactured by Opt Lasers, as well as see real-world applications of different Opt Lasers products.
On the present site, you can buy laser modules as components for 3D printer laser engraver upgrade. The examples our 3D laser modules are shown below:

The competitive edge of Opt Lasers’ blue laser heads.
Blue light at ≈450 nm is absorbed efficiently by many engineering and organic materials, which helps achieve cleaner cuts, darker engravings and finer details at lower power than longer-wavelength sources. Our heads are built around high-brightness diode modules with precision-designed optics to deliver a tight, stable spot and minimal heat-affected zone. Compact form factors, robust metal housings and proven thermal management make integration straightforward on lightweight motion systems typical of desktop and professional 3D printers. A mature accessory ecosystem (mounts, air-assist, safety windows, controllers) and comprehensive documentation streamline installation and repeatable results for both prototyping and small-batch production.
Made for practical integration.
Whether you’re adding laser engraving to a filament printer or pairing with a CNC/3D hybrid machine, our blue heads are designed for quick mounting, simple electrical hookup (PWM/TTL), and consistent output across long jobs. The combination of small spot size and high material absorption enables precise raster engraving, marking of plastics and woods used in printed parts, and fast post-processing of jigs, labels or panels—without bulky optics or complex alignment. Explore the product lines and application examples above to choose a head that matches your working area, material set and duty cycle.
Compatibility Matrix
Supported printer classes, mounts, signal types (PWM/TTL), and recommended heads.
| Printer Class | Mount | Signal | Recommended Head | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cartesian i3 (e.g., Prusa/Creality) | Dedicated bracket or universal plate; LaserDock Pro optional | 0–5 V PWM/TTL | XT-50 (fine engraving) or XT8 45 W (cutting) | Route cables via drag chain; Adapter Pro recommended. |
| CoreXY DIY (e.g., Voron) | Flat plate + quick-release (LaserDock Pro) | 0–24 V logic via Adapter Pro | XT-50 for high-detail; XT8 45 W for throughput | Verify electronics cooling for long duty cycles. |
| CNC/3D Hybrid (OpenBuilds/WorkBee) | LaserDock Pro or OEM Adapter mount | PWM/TTL from controller | XT8 45 W | Air-assist strongly recommended for thicker organics. |
| Closed-ecosystem printers | Custom bracket | External control via Adapter Pro | XT-50 (consult before purchase) | Check brand policy on third-party add-ons. |

| Considerations | Slower on thick materials | Larger head; ensure cable management | Lead time |
Safety & Fume Management
- Laser class: Class 4 blue (≈450 nm). Use rated eyewear (OD per wavelength) and keep the beam path shielded.
- Enclosure: Opaque/filtered paneling around the work area prevents stray light and contains fumes.
- Extraction: Inline blower to outside or filter box (HEPA + activated carbon). Keep airflow across the cut; pair with Air-Assist.
- Do-cut list: Wood, paper/card, leather, many plastics (e.g., acrylic/PMMA), coated metals, anodized aluminum marking.
- Avoid: PVC/vinyl (chlorine), PTFE (toxic fumes), unknown composites; test small off-cuts first.
- Electrical: Drive via PWM/TTL through PLH3D-CNC Adapter Pro; isolate grounds on sensitive controllers.
- Maintenance: Keep lens/window clean; check air-assist line and filter; verify interlocks periodically.
- Workspace: Non-reflective fixtures; remove shiny parts from the beam path.
Technical FAQ
Does it work with Marlin/Klipper? Yes. Use PWM/TTL output to the Adapter Pro; control power with M3 S<0–255>/M5 or macros.
LightBurn support? Yes. Select a GRBL-style device; set S-range to your firmware; export G-code for your controller.
Can I engrave metals? You can mark anodized aluminum and coated/painted metals directly. Bare reflective metals may require marking spray/paste.
How do I focus? Use the supplied spacer/height tool or probe Z and set the focus distance per head spec.
Which head should I pick? Fine engraving & photos: 6 W (XF+/XT-50). Frequent cutting or thicker organics: XT8 45 W.
Air-assist control? Map to a fan output (e.g., M106/M107) or use a relay from the Adapter Pro.
