Fiber coupled 500 mW red laser module with a wavelength of 638 nm. The device was designed to use with 100um 0,22NA fiber.

Microcontroller driving the laser module is responsible both for soft start of the laser diode and the regulation of temperature by using a thermocouple. In addition, in the event when adequate heat dissipation of the module is not ensured, the system protects the diode from overheating, and when the temperature of the diode exceeds 40 degrees Celsius, it prevents further current flow through the diode and goes into the alarm mode.
With a separate analogue part of the laser diode power supply, the laser is able to modulate the beam in accordance with the analogue input signal (0 - 5V) even at frequency of up to 100 kHz.
This device contains power supply unit. PSU and driver unit are hidden together in the casing. Thanks to this solution laser module can be supplied from AC socket. Modulation signal can be connected by user using the BNC connector. It is also a potentiometer which enables to adjust amplitude of input modulation signal and the power on/off switch.
The diode along with the entire optical system is mounted in a housing with radiator which is cooled by fan. Thanks to that, module can operate without any additional cooling.
This module has thermal protection system which protect laser diode from overheating.
The analog input is protected by a 5V1 Zener diode on occasion there appears the voltage higher than 5V. Despite everything, this input should not be used with higher voltages.
The output of the driver is protected by Shottky diode which doesn't allow the reverse voltage to appear.
